Gifting Day 3: Milk & Honey Fudge
There is nothing like homemade fudge! Give someone an entire pan or portion it out in gift bags.
Consider writing the following verse on the gift tag: "Pleasant words are like a honeycomb, Sweetness to the soul and health to the bones." Proverbs 16:24 (KJV)
1 can (14 oz.) sweetened condensed
milk
1/2 cup local honey
1/2 cup local honey
generous pinch of salt
One 12 oz. bag of semi-sweet chocolate chips
4 oz. bittersweet chocolate
1 cup chopped, salted peanuts
DIRECTIONS
Have ready an 8 x 8-inch pan lined with greased foil (butter the foil or use coconut oil).
Combine honey,
sweetened condensed milk, and salt in a medium sauce pan heat until it just starts to boil, stirring constantly. Remove from heat and add the chocolate, stirring constantly, until chocolate melts completely. Stir in peanuts and pour into the prepared pan, spreading the mixture as evenly as you can. Let is cool to room temperature on the counter, then place in the refrigerator to continue to set.
If you want to portion the fudge, but the square in half, then cut the two pieces in half again lengthwise. Once you have four rectangular logs, cut each log into equal size portions. You should end up with 28 pieces or more.
The recipe is very versatile, as different chocolates, nuts, and regional honeys allow you to change the flavor to suit any taste.
