Gifting Day 5: Honey Glazed Nuts
This recipe is easy to personalize simply by changing up the spice. If you know someone who loves the combination of sweet and spicy, then use whatever type of ground pepper spice you like. You can also skip the spice and just give the nuts a sprinkling of salt after they come out of the oven.
You can portion them out into treat bags, or in a decorative container. Consider using the following verse on the gift tag: "And their father Israel said to them, “If it must be so, then do this: Take some of the best fruits of the land in your vessels and carry down a present for the man—a little balm and a little honey, spices and myrrh, pistachio nuts and almonds." Genesis 43:11 (NKJV)
3 cups mixed nuts (roughly two 8 oz. cans)
1/4 cup honey
1 Tbsp. butter
1 tsp. salt
2 tsp. pumpkin pie spice
DIRECTIONS
Preheat oven to 250, and line a large baking sheet with parchment paper. In a medium sauce pan, heat honey, butter, and salt and gently stir. Add the spice and stir again. Add nuts and toss them around until completely coated. Pour the nuts out onto the baking sheet, and spread them out to create a single layer, and try to give each nut space so they don't bake in clumps. Bake for 10-15 minutes, remove from oven and sprinkle generously with salt. Allow the nuts to cool before portioning.
The nuts will be a little sticky, but very tasty! Store them in an airtight container.
